Installing a Mastercam post with Machine Simulation

This article is designed to help you install and test your Mastercam posts with Machine Simulation.  It contains Text and Video instructions.
An additional tutorial file from Mastercam is available for download at the bottom of this article.

Requirements

The following items will be delivered to you by email.
  1. A Mastercam Post with Machine Simulation
  2. A sample .mcam file.

Text Instructions

If you run into trouble at any point during the installation process, please reply to the post email and request support.  We will schedule a web meeting to assist with your post installation.

Post Installation
  1. Launch Mastercam.
  2. Download the post Content File.
  3. Drag and drop the post Content File over the graphics window of Mastercam.  The files will be automatically installed.
  4. Add the post to your Machine Definition list.  (Machine Tab > Mill Icon > Manage List > Select your new post > Click Add > Green Check)
  5. Launch the sample file included with your post, found in your \Shared Mastercam 20XX\MCAMNW Sample Files\ folder.  It will be named after your post.
  6. Select all the toolpaths in the first Toolpath group, and click G1 to post. 
  7. Verify that the post outputs completely. 

Machine Simulation
  1. From Mastercam, open the Machine Group Setup pages
  2. After ensuring the correct machine is selected on the first page, navigate to the final page of Machine Group Setup
  3. Use the dropdown at the top of this page to select the correct machine model for simulation. This page also includes options to do things like override the starting stock in simulation, adjust the position of the workpiece in the machine, and turn TCPC/TCP on and off. Set these settings accordingly.
  4. Click the green check at the top of Machine Group Setup when settings are as desired.
  5. Launch simulation by entering Verify as normal and switching to Simulation mode from the Mode group on the far left side of the Home tab in Verify. Alternatively, select Simulation directly from the Simulation group in the Machine tab in Mastercam
  6. Simulation runs similarly to Verify, using the same playback controls, move list, Report panel, Compare, and more.
