This article is designed to help you install and test your Postability posts with Machine Simulation for Mastercam. It contains Text and Video instructions.
An additional tutorial file from Mastercam is available for download at the bottom of this article.
Requirements
The following three items will be delivered to you by email.
- A Postability Post with Machine Simulation, and a sample .mcam file.
- MachSim license keys.
- If your post is for Mastercam 2023 or older, you will require a MachSim Patch - External Posting Enabler (requires sufficient Windows installation access, if unsure, have I.T. available.)
Text Instructions
If you run into trouble at any point during the installation process, please reply to the post email and request support. We will schedule a web meeting to assist with your post installation.
MachSim Patch (If your post files are for Mastercam 2023 or older.)
- Close down Mastercam.
- Download the MachSim patch which corresponds to your version of Mastercam: https://postability.com/doc-machsim-patches
- Run and install the MachSim Patch - External Posting Enabler.
- Continue to the Post installation section.
Post Installation
- Launch Mastercam.
- Download the post Content File.
- Drag and drop the post Content File over the graphics window of Mastercam. The files will be automatically installed.
- Add the post to your Machine Definition list. (Machine Tab > Mill Icon > Manage List > Select your new post > Click Add > Green Check)
- Launch the sample file included with your post, found in your \Shared Mastercam 20XX\MCAMNW Sample Files\ folder. It will be named after your post.
- Select all the toolpaths in the first Toolpath group, and click G1 to post.
- Once posting is initiated, you will be presented with a waiver. Close it to get a dialogue box to agree or cancel.
- Verify that the post outputs completely.
- Continue to the Machine Simulation Section.
Machine Simulation
- Inside Mastercam, navigate to the Machine Simulation options from within the Machine Tab.
- Verify the correct Machine is selected from the dropdown, and that the workpiece, fixturing, and stock are selected.
- Be sure that "Use External Post" is checked on. This is critical for proper simulation of your programs.
- Click the "Simulation" button.
- Enter the MachSim key when prompted. Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces when entering the key.
- Once simulation is initiated, you will be presented with a waiver. Close it to get a dialogue box to agree or cancel.
- Inside simulation, use the Run button (Simulation Tab) to play the simulation.
