Licensing - Red NetHasp Setup + Updating NetHasp codes.

This article is designed to help get you started using your Red NetHasp for Mastercam licensing, as well as instructions for updating Mastercam maintenance codes or Mastercam product codes.

Requirements

  1. Direct access to the computer acting as the Licensing server.  The software will not update if you're using a remote viewing session.  You must be at the console.
  2. Hasp drivers, the NHaspX update utility, and NetHasp License Manager (all available at from the Drivers & Utilities page at Mastercam.com, Not to be confused with the "HaspX" update utility which is for stand-alone HASPS.)
  3. Your NetHasp codes (.nhcode file.)

Text Instructions

Initial Server Setup
Head over to the Drivers & Utilities page at Mastercam.com, and download and install the following three files:
  1. Hasp drivers (For Mastercam X2 and Newer)
  2. NetHASP Update Utility (Latest available version)
  3. NetHasp License Manager - When installing the NetHasp License Manager, make sure that it installs as a service, and not as an application (you will be prompted to choose during installation.)
Firewall Requirements.  The Antivirus on the license server must be set to allow the NetHasp to communicate.
  1. The firewall must be configured to open port 475 and port 1947.
  2. The NetHasp server program (C:\Windows\sysWOW64\nhsrvice.exe) must be allowed to work through the firewall.

Initial Workstation Setup
  1. The following procedure is only for client-side configurations that need to point to a specific server IP address.
  2. Configuring the nethasp.ini file to look for the NetHasp server at a specific address improves the time it takes a computer to find a server on the network.
  3. By omitting this step, when Mastercam launches and checks for network licenses, it takes extra time to search all computers on the sub-net to find the NetHasp server.  If all licenses have been checked out by other Mastercam users on your network, the search might take an especially long time.
  4. If all licenses are in use, you receive a "no license found" error when launching Mastercam.

  1. From the Mastercam installation folder (C:\Program Files\Mastercam 20XX\), copy the nethasp.ini file to your desktop.
  2. Use a text editor, such as Notepad, to edit the nethasp.ini file.   Scroll to the bottom of nethasp.ini and edit the line that says ";;NH_SERVER_ADDR = <Addr1>, <Addr2>"
  3. Remove the two preceding semicolons, and then enter your server's IP address after the equal's sign.  Remove the <addr> tags. (example: "NH_SERVER_ADDR = 192.168.1.1")
  4. Save the file, and then copy the edited nethasp.ini file into the main Mastercam directory (C:\Program Files\Mastercam 20XX\)
  5. When Mastercam is launched, it will look at the specified address.

Directions for updating a NetHasp device:
  1. Save the .NHCode file on the computer where the NetHasp Device is physically attached.
  2. On that computer, launch NHaspX.
  3. Make sure that 'Mode' is set to 'Local'.
  4. Press the 'Read' button.
  5. Verify that the 'Serial Number' displayed matches the Sim number of your .nhcode file
  6. Press the 'Update Code' button.
  7. Select the .NHCode file that you just saved.
  8. Press the 'Update' button.
  9. Set the 'Mode' to 'Network'.
  10. Press the 'OK' button to exit.

Troubleshooting

  1. I don't have NHaspX.
Download and install NHaspX.exe from the Drivers and Utilities page from Mastercam.com
  2. Hasp's red light doesn't remain on when plugged in.
Download and install the HASP Drivers (for Mastercam X2 and Newer) from the Drivers and Utilities page from Mastercam.com
  3. I'm using a USB-C to USB-A adapter, I've installed the Hasp drivers, and the NetHasp's red light still doesn't remain on.
Try downloading and installing the Sentinel HASP/LDK Windows GUI Runtime Installer from thalesgroup.com (developers of the Hasp technology.)
  4. The number on my NetHasp doesn't match the number of my .hcode file.
The license number of the .nhcode file must be paired with the NetHasp with the same license number.   You may be operating from a location which has multiple NetHasps.  Please check the other NetHasps on site for the one with the correct license number.   If you don't have access to any other NetHasps, or are unable to locate the NetHasp associated with the .nhcode file, please email CustomerCare@mcamnw.com
