Licensing - Network Software License + Network Software License Updating

Licensing - Network Software License + Network Software License Updating

This article is designed to help get you started using your Network Software License for Mastercam, as well as instructions for updating Mastercam maintenance codes or Mastercam product codes.  All licensing changes will take place on the computer acting as host for the Network Software License.

Your Mastercam Software License will digitally sign itself to your server's hardware profile.   You must deactivate your license before upgrading any server hardware, otherwise CodeMeter will lock down the license and you will be unable to use Mastercam until recovered.   Contact support@mcamnw.com to initiate the recovery process.

Requirements

  1. A network server, or computer designated to operate as a license server.
  2. The Activation Wizard and CodeMeter Control Center (installed via the Mastercam Activation Wizard Setup.)
  3. Your License Number and Activation Code (sent to you via email from CustomerCare@mcamnw.com)
  4. Internet access.  Either from the computer you're installing the codes on (online activation,) or from a computer which you will be using to authenticate your license (offline activation.)

Text Instructions

Both First-Time setup and Maintenance or Product Update codes have the exact same procedures for activation.
If you are receiving Mastercam Maintenance codes, or have received Mastercam codes containing new products, you will first need to deactivate your license and then reactivate the license (Deactivation Instructions are below the Activation Instructions.)   This is because Mastercam Licensing does not "phone home" and the license will not know when new products have been added, maintenance has been extended, or the license status has been updated from temporary to permanent.  You must manually trigger the update by deactivation/reactivation.

Activation Section
Online Activation (For license servers with internet access.)
  1. Run the Activation Wizard (Windows Start > Mastercam Licensing Utilities > Activation Wizard)
  2. Select Online Activation/Deactivation
  3. Select Activate a New License
  4. Step through the rest of the wizard - entering the License Number and Activation Code when prompted (you can copy and paste the license number and activation code into their respective fields.)
  5. Once the product has been activated successfully, you can close the Activation Wizard and launch Mastercam.
Offline Activation (For license servers which do not have internet access.)
  1. Run the Activation Wizard (Windows Start > Mastercam Licensing Utilities > Activation Wizard)
  2. Select Offline Activation/Deactivation
  3. Select Activate a New License
  4. Step through the rest of the wizard - entering the License Number and Activation Code when prompted (you can copy and paste the license number and activation code into their respective fields.)
  5. Click Save to create a license request file (.mcReq file.)   Use this file on an internet-connected computer to generate a license file.
  6. Visit activate.mastercam.com on the internet-connected computer and follow the instructions on the website.
  7. Download the generated .mcLic file, and transfer it back to the license server without internet access.
  8. Relaunch the Activation Wizard
  9. Select Offline Activation/Deactivation
  10. Select Finish Installing a New License
  11. Select the Mastercam License.mcLic file, and finish stepping through the rest of the Activation Wizard

Deactivation Section
Online Deactivation (For license servers with internet access.)
  1. Run the Activation Wizard (Windows Start > Mastercam Licensing Utilities > Activation Wizard)
  2. Select Online Activation/Deactivation
  3. Select Deactivate or Move an Existing License
  4. Step through the rest of the wizard until your license has been deactivated.  Close the Activation Wizard.
  5. Follow the steps above in the Activation Section to reactivate your license.
Offline Deactivation (For license servers which do not have internet access.)
  1. Run the Activation Wizard (Windows Start > Mastercam Licensing Utilities > Activation Wizard)
  2. Select Offline Activation/Deactivation
  3. Select Deactivate or Move an Existing License
  4. Step through the wizard until prompted to Save to create a license deactivation file (.mcDea file.)
  5. Click Save to create a license deactivation file (.mcDea file.)   Use this file on an internet-connected computer to complete the license deactivation (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP.)
  6. Visit activate.mastercam.com on the internet-connected computer and follow the instructions on the website to deactivate.

Server Configuration
  1. Open up CodeMeter Control Center (Windows Start > CodeMeter > CodeMeter Control Center)
  2. Click on "Web Admin".
  3. From the Web Admin Browser, Configuration > Server > Server Access
  4. In the "Network Server" section, select the radio button for "Enable".
  5. Click Apply.
Server Licensing Note*
Communication through CodeMeter takes place on port 22350 - any AntiVirus software will need to have those ports open.  Please make sure there are UDP and TCP rules for port 22350

Workstation Configuration (workstation computers will NOT have a license activated on them, as they will be borrowing one from the license server.)
  1. Install Mastercam on the workstation PC
  2. Open up CodeMeter Control Center (Windows Start > CodeMeter > CodeMeter Control Center)
  3. Click on "Web Admin".
  4. From the Web Admin Browser, Configuration > Basic > Server Search List
  5. Inside the Server Search List, click the Teal Circle with the plus to "add new Server".
  6. Enter the License Server's IP address into the new field.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Click Apply.
Workstation Configuration Note*
In the bottom left of the Workstation's Web Admin is a section which says "Current Server: localhost (127.0.0.1)", if you click on that button, a "Server found:" box pops up.  This list needs to show the License Server IP address in order to satisfy license distribution.  If the server IP isn't shown here, then the AntiVirus on the License Server needs to be configured to allow communication through port 22350 (UDP and TCP) and/or allow the CodeMeter Runtime Server network access.   Once the server's IP address can be seen in the "Server found:" box a workstation computer can pull a license from the license server.

Troubleshooting

  1. I don't have the Activation Wizard and/or CodeMeter Control Center.
Download and install the Mastercam Activation Wizard Setup from the Software Licensing section of the Mastercam.com Drivers & Utilities page.
  2. I get an error when trying to Activate or Deactivate my license.
Download and install the latest CodeMeter User Runtime for Windows from WiBu.com's User Software downloads page.
